46-er - More Information
The chalet is located up on a secluded hill, with other houses scattered through the woods. There are no immediate neighbors, but we had visits from a neighboring bear last Summer. We own the property across the road, which guarantees you will have a great unobstructed view of beautiful Whiteface Mountain herself from the house, deck and the hot tub.
Whiteface Mountain Ski Base is located just two miles down the road.
Our Hot Tub is usable year round, and is located on the side of the house on our wraparound deck. Nothing compares to soaking your worked-out muscles on a crisp night looking up at an unforgettable sky lit with uncountable new stars that usually get drowned out with light pollution.
The closest Shopping and Restaurants are in the village of Wilmington, just one mile away from the chalet.
Wilmington Farmers Market takes place at Heritage Park (Rt. 86). Hours are July-August Wed. 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
For a greater selection of shops and eateries, head to the Olympic Village of Lake Placid, ten miles away.
The closest swimming is at the Wilmington Town Beach, which is fantastic especially for younger children; nice and sandy beach, guarded, and with a really great playground.
During the Summer Season there are also Live Concerts every Thursday night.
What a wonderful way of experiencing the true Adirondack soul of our local community!
The beach is also great for accessing Everest Lake with our three person canoe.
Everest Lake is a part of the West Ausable River and is about a mile long.
It's great for Fishing and Exploring Wild Life. You can observe Turtles, Herons, Ospreys, and Beaver Dams, just to name a few.
Another great option for swimming is the Wilmington Flume.
The Flume offers both Challenge and Excitement for those who would like to swim in a Natural Pool with a water fall for a back massage. The entrance can be a little tricky with some slippery rocks guarding the natural treasure.
For an extra adrenaline surge you may jump into the swimming hole from one of the surrounding granite walls.
