Pocomoonshine - More Information
Auger Lake is a private-access Lake and excellent for fishing. I love exploring it on the canoe. In the west it connects to Mud Pond, an incredibly secluded place where you can spy on birds, turtles and beavers.
Bald eagles were spotted here last Summer.
We are in a micro-neighborhood of three camps, on a dead-end dirt road. Our camp is located about 80' from the shore, accessible by foot path. The few neighbors that you might encounter are very friendly and respectful of privacy, if you choose to remain remote. However, in the past, some of our guests have become very close friends with neighbors, enjoying entertaining each other.
Boulders, woods and nature surround the house. You can gaze at the lake from the kitchen, living room and the porch. The bedrooms are located in the back of the house with views of trees. There is definitely something very special about Pocomoonshine Camp: I always feel like I'm entering another dimension when I'm there, as if I'm going back in time. It is very remote and quiet, yet quite close to many attractions including the Ausable Chasm and Lake Champlain. There is plenty of space for pets to be free and roam in the wild.
We have a private dock, which is great to swim from. We must tell you, though, that our favorite spot for swimming is off the small island, which is just a paddle away. We have a three-person canoe for our guests to use, as well as a flat bottom paddleboat. You might also enjoy the sandy, guarded community beach in Port Douglas, on Lake Champlain.
Yes, our Hot Tub is usable year round. It is nestled in the woods at the back of the property, so you can fully immerse yourself in the magic of the environment.
The closest shopping and Restaurants are in the village of Keeseville, about three miles away. For a greater selection, head to Plattsburgh, which is about fifteen minutes away.
Please refer to our Local Information section for more details on year-round local activities.
